Depends on what you're putting it in, newer trucks are much easier, but old trucks are easy also.

87 might have the plug. Look down at the bottom of the dash panel, straight down from the radio. There may be a tab hanging down with a gray plug attached to it. Probably a 4 pin plug, might be 6. Go to Ford and get the other half of the 4 pin plug, or just cut that plug off and butt connect the wires together.

I will scan an instruction sheet tonight, or find a good link.

well i checked out my turd, an there wasnt a plug under teh dash, but teh brake controller that is installed in teh truck seems liek it will work onces its wierd up. it has a hard line that runs in teh back of it with the brake presure in it im sure that works, but trhe 3 wires off the back go no where. should i use this anciet relic or upgrade to teh more advanced style the draw tite sells. jiMMy

 Welcome to the stone age. I think Barney helped Fred put one of those in the Flintstone mobile. Not too many still work that I have seen.

It's not hard to put a new one in. If you can install a stereo, you can install a brake controller. Probably take half a day depending on how clean you do it, and how much beer is involved. Instructions are in the box. If you get stuck, PM me.
