Heres some pics of my friends XJ!!..Started off with a RE 6" lift and 33's...Now he tore it all apart, went with the Tomken long arm conversion.and rear leaks..Rockcraler 6" front springs Buggy rear..Rock ram steering with Rustys over the knuckle conversion....4:88 gears front and rear OX lockers...Superior axle shafts front and rear..This thing flexys mad and tears it up on the trail!!...Still cant keep up with the Cruiser...I still dont understand that JEEP thing!!..Just kidding...LOL

It rode on an RE 6.5" modified lift, 35" SSR's, 8.8", lockers, gears... I don't know if you consider it bad ass, but it sure worked hard for me off-road.

I didn't think it was that bad ass but it definitely got the job done

The first one is two years ago before I cut the top off and repainted it. The second is from this summer with the new OD green, missing half the top, the rear springs flipped and the w/b is now at 113" and carrying everyone elses shit. I broke a radius arm a few hours after the pic was taken. ( I swear I was only testing my x-member clearance in the second pic.....) The jeep is now torn down and I'm redoing the front suspension with a 3 link.

What are you running in the rear Vett? stock front springs?

I would look up what the spring rate is on the springs you have and find something a bit stiffer.

That's actually exactly what I've got. The first set I ran were stock ZJ rear springs, and while the spring rate was a little stiffer, the coils just weren't long enough. The front coils work pretty well but are a little softer, which I don't mind for vertical travel, but required the Anti-rock for flex and stability.

I attached some pictures to better show the rear bumpstop setup. These little Timbren things are great.

and how is it to far out of the can?you put them in, put them were you want them and tighten down the can to clamp the air bump in place.the bumps had 4.5" of up travel and i wanted the axle uptravel to stop at a certain point hence them being were they are.


The clamps are just to hold them from falling out. Some cans only have one clamp The first time you hit hard it will slid right up to the stop. This is were it should be.

Id say to chop and drop would be more effective than new axles as long as youre on 35s... way too much lift as-is

no its sit perfect and rides great dont want any higher or lower it does good ..and i got the 37's on now also...

Getting a little closer to finishing my rebuild. Hopefully 2 or 3 weeks and i'll be having a shakedown run.

Hey Chero Kid...tell me a little about the suspension on each end...and what rear diif you have? Is it a 60...but with who's inner shafts.

It's bad ass even when bent...you'll miss the body...in bad weather!:D


He is going to do a soft top.. Here is his rear dif

The rear is going to be linked with coilovers and the front has a custom U link upper ... I can get some pics of it for you,... He is usually a little slow about responding he runs his shop and is building a few Jeeps right now.. He Also builds custom cages.. Does a lot of work for SPEC miata's.. always has 2 or 3 of them in the shop

Finally atleast got it outside the garage at my bro in laws. He got the shocks mounted on the front last night and we pulled it out. Looks better sitting outside. Still have to build front driveshaft, get my rear shocks in, finish trimming rear quarters, rear cage, finish the front bumper and mount winch. And just some cleaning up of a few things.

Post build, HP D 60 Front, 14 Bolt rear, 5.38's on stand by, frame stiffened, 8'' Skyjacker Coils, TMS Long arm front, 8" Rusty's Leafs, 37'' Pit Bull Rockers. TMS Bumper.

Next mods - Gear install, lockers, removeable half doors, chop top / soft top, cage, Hydro assist steering, humvee rims. And if they ever put 39+'' Rockers into production a set of them.

Exo is now complete....Removed old tubing around wheel wells and started over with some trimming for 37's... Added rear tire carrier also...
Weight is starting to creep up there with full interior cage and now exo..
