I think the 12 x 1.5 is common , but the 12 x 1.25 is not so easy and cheap. I got one from Ace hardware . Check the website.

mcmaster.com keyword "tap" select metric 12mm x1.25 and they have several under $16

Thanks for the reply guys.

Bo just brought his nice Snap-On set over and we chased it down. Bolt threads in like a champ, but once i try to really tighten it is completely strips the threads from the bolt.

The other five threaded in/worked fine and i tightened them without problems. Why is this last one being such a PITA!!

All the bolts i have are Napa 8.8 Grade bolts. Arent these the same as Grade 8?

Any ideas?

Thanks

P.S. Thanks Bo!!!

I think the 10.9 ish are near grade 8. chase the threads again, and trya different bolt. what length bolt are you using? short long semi long. pickups use the same bolts for bellhousings, crossmembers, and some ifs parts.

ah, what are 8.8 bolts?

i am using a bolt that is plenty long so thats not the issue, the 5 others went in and snugged fine, the 6th is being a bitch!

Plenty long, but is it to long?

no, the frame is open, nothing to hit

Then I would try runing the tap in there again. If you dont have the tap still you could take a spare bolt and file a v grove in it then thread it in sometimes that can clear up small burs.

[QUOTE=Boston Mangler]ah, what are 8.8 bolts?

[QUOTE]

Metric grade 8.8 are the same as SAE grade 5 bolts. Look here: http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/Bolt-Grade-Chart.aspx

Are you using a bottom tap, or a the tapered tap used for tapping new threads. The bottom tap has less taper and let's you get deeper into blind holes.

!!!

The short term fix is to use a SAE 1/2 inch x 20 TPI bolt until you can helicoil it. It works surprisingly well, so you could also use the SAE bolt long term if that kind of thing doesn't bug you.
