well....it may just help my shitty 2f out a bit...enough to limp through the season. id like a 350, but if someone has some 2f heads lyin around...hook it up!:rasta:

Heads? How many are you planning on using throughout the summer? Dig around for a complete engine, and be done with it. there are PLENTY of good 2F's out there. In the time it takes to swap a head twice(including removal, prep, and reassembly and other little oh shits) you could swap the POS engine for a good one and not have to deal with it again.

I just checked out the San Diego recycler and there are at least 4 "F" motors and 1 "2F" motor for sale in LA/San Diego. I think I even saw one on ebay... How far are you willing to drive to get a good deal??? Obviously shipping would be a concern but they are out there. Have you posted anyhting on the Land Cruiser Mailing list? Although I get bored with the lame discussions(equal, and car chase scenes) that linger there for a long time, they are a good resource for the stock stuff.

There has got to be one out there, maybe no one on this board but you will find one.
Weed is a hellova far drive to get a 6 because it won't fit in the trunk or anything like that, and you can't take your cruiser.

However i do know this guy with an fj60 that does wonderful long senic drives to places like colorado. Maybe you could steal his. hahahahahhahahha:flipoff2:

If i remember right you could use one off an f or 2f it does not really make a difference since you don't have to smog it. Also i think the F head gives more compression.

Just a thought.

The only F head that will fit is the 74. Before you chuck the works, you oughta be sure what's wrong. Make a an adapter to pump some air in the offending cylinders thru the spark plugs, a homebrew leakdown tester. Pull the valve cover and rotate the engine until the bad cylinders have both valves closed (rockers up and push rods free to spin) pump a 100lbs of air in and find the leak. Open throttle plates, pull pcv valve and check the exhaust. When you hear the hissing you'll know where the leak is.

Your comment that it smokes and oils the air filter sounds like rings to me. What do the plugs look like? I'm no genius, but even though the head may also be in need of a valve job, you got other problems.

Drive it like it is, stay behind your friends and start saving for whatever you plan to do about it. My personal suggestion is to find a good running 2F and swap it in. This is by far the cheapest and fastest route to take. Someone else posted some thoughts on a v8 swap, just another can of worms that will be costly to do right and be reliable.

And forget the buick swap, that motor is not as good as a healthy 2F!

---haha we allready talked...his isnt ready for a 350 swap. its still ok w/ the 2f mine is not though....

well...ive planned and though shit out...and im foldin up shop with the 2f as of now. its too much of a PITA to limp this pos then it would be to 350 the bitch:flipoff2: so im hunting for a 350 now. i prob wont make mem day..but fuck it! it may be a while till i gut the cruiser because i wont gut it till theres a 350 and all the shit chillin in my garage! so till then.....im limpin this 2f. but thanks for the offers guys! :rasta:

Let me ask you this, what do your plugs look like? They will help you figure out the problem. I'm with spaceghost too, your rings gotta be toast to let that much oil get by, then again your plugs should be totally oil fouled as well.

Bring that pile of crap over here and lemme take a look at it before you go getting crazy and stuff. You kids these days, you cats just freak out over everything!

like i said...ive done some heavy pondering and came up with a few things...
1-heads is not m,y only problem, the rings are toast too.
2-50$ used on this motor is not only a waste of $50...but an extra 50 buks towards my 350. hehe
