Title pretty much states it all.

I'm working on a build up where the owner is considering an overdrive automatic and may or may not be doing a later model engine(ie considering carb or TBI engine over vortec)

At this time, I am thinking a 4L60e may be the way to go but I am curious if there is a standalone harness available for it either factory or aftermarket.

Anyone know?

Also, please keep the topic on the 4L60e, at this time, I know all I need about the 700R4 and need info on the 4L60e.

I think this may be what your looking for; http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&Ntt=tci%2D377001&searchinresults=false&N=+115&y=9&x=30

If you check with major custom tranny builders, I think several of them have their own you can buy.

Here's a listing; http://www.eatmyshifts.com/pl_4l60e.htm#Compushift
and this is the parent site ((quite complete parts listing for slush boxes)for that listing; http://www.transmissioncenter.net/
Hope this helps.

A 700R4 will work with stock TBI and most aftermaket fuel injection as well. It'll save money if he wants the TBI later!

Thanks for the suggestion, but as I stated originally, I don't care for any info about the 700R4... I know enough about it.

I'm trying to make sure I have every bit of info I need before I try to point him in the right direction.

I'm sure that you probably already know, a 4l60e is just an electronic version of the 700 r 4. why would be spend the money on a shift controller for a 700r4 if you can just get the one that does not require it? if you are going to spend the money for a controller, you might as well upgrade to the 4l80e. the controller from tci will shift both trannies.

to answer your question, i have not used the one from tci, but i have used the one from gm performacne parts, it's really easy to use but retails for 11oo.
you can also get the one from raptor transmissions and it costs about the same.

Like stated by bbwag above the 4l60E is a 700r4 with electronic controls to shift the trans. basically.

From 93 to mid 97 they had a one peice bell housing like the 700r4 then they changed to the two piece that bolts together. After 99 the torque converter spacing change with the Gen III engines. The later model 4L65E is just a beefed up 60E.

So if the guy wants to save money now and go with a carb then get the 700r4 which can be adapted to work with the TBI later! Which will save him money!
Now if he wants TBI then go with the 4L60E but you will need a VSS in the transfer case to get the thing to shift correctly!

But I would run the 4L80E if you go electronic because it's a like a turbo 400 with an overdrive. So it plenty strong to hold up to a 350.

Any more info just Google it and do some research!
