NOW THAT I GOT ALL THE CHEVY LOVERS ON THE DEFENCE HERES MY PROBLEM...I just put a 98 vortec 350 v8 in my 81 cj5. IT WILL CRANK AND FIRE UP, BUT AS SOON AS I TURN THE KEY TO THE RUN POSITION IT DIES AND IT WON'T STAY RUNNING, the tec 2 dionastic tool said that it was killing the fuel to the injectors. This is a anti-theift issue. I think the anti- theift system in this computer is called passkey. I was wanting to know what other people that have swapped this year motor into another vehicle have done, their outcome and if it is a perminate solution. POST UP!!

Seems like to me that the PCM gets power during the "crank" position on the ignition switch but loses power on the "run" position. Check to make sure you have power to the PCM at the "run" position, if not, fix it.

Its the PCM killing the engine, it thinks you stole it! You have to have the VATS (Vehical Anti-Theft System) in the computer tuned off on all 1998 up computers, most places charge 200 bucks or more. It's an easy fix!

have you looked at EFILive or HPTuners? If your PCM is supported then they will be able to disable VATS. Plus you get a tuner to boot.

Most local tuning shops and disable VATS and also remove any unwanted engine codes, like emmisons stuff. Plus they can give you a custom tune which you can remove torque managment and other things as well.
