I'm going to be running a 4.3L v6 TBi in my toyota and I'm running a 32al cell and wanted to run an external fuel pump. My question is what kind/type of pump should I use. Make and part # if avaiable and where to get it. Also what psi do I need 15? or what. Thanks.

Just about any aftermarket pump would suffice. Summit, Jegs, and about any local parts store pump should be fine. Ive used the Puralator ones before (from Trak/Advance), and have never had a problem.

As for the TBI, just make sure you get a fuel pressure regulator. An adjustable one would be great for your application. Keep it turned down to about 12-13 psi for economy use, and adjust it higher (~18 psi) to have some fun. Just get a regulator with a pressure gauge or attach one somewhere.

I trust these guys with their products and prices, but use your own judgement.

Super BAD advice!!!!!! Never and I mean never run a fuel pressure regulator with a chev TBI(it would only mask any real problems). Regultor is built into the TBI unit. Also you want to ues a pump that is a "puller pusher" There are pumps designed just for these applications. The reason being is the original design was a pump in the tank that only pushed. Do not buy any pump that will produce more than 20psi as it will blow the diaphram in the TBI regulator out. Thats sums it up. Oh may seam obvious but make sure you plumb a return line and make sure that line is free of shap bends and kinks.

That is totally moronic. Tell that to my regulator which is set at 30 psi (and my fuel pump is a TPI unit that makes 50+).

Mine runs about 55psi at idle, I believe they need anywhere from 55-95psi, but I could be mistaken.

As for the subject of the thread, I have heard of a lot of people running the ford frame rail pump from 88-92? ford trucks with good luck on TBI, this is a high pressure multi port pump, I personally wouldn't recomend it, I would get a low pressure TBI for TBI...

Adjust the fuel pressure to the needs of your engine. Use a program like WINALDL to see what the ECM is doing and adjust fuel pressure to get your BLMs as close to 128 as possible. Doing this resulted in about 17.5 psi for me. This was done using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the TBI unit. The stock one can be made so its adjustable, or buy an aftermarket one that is adjustable.

adjusting the regulator that way is fine, but if you can burn your own chips that a better way to go..

I bought a brand new E8153 pump and assumed it was working properly, after not being able to get a consitant tune or drivability i finally got a guage on there and it was pumping about 9.5 psi.. the E2000 worked out a whole lot better.. I'm now tuning to 12psi..
