Has anyone used a Warn Winch 8200?

I just purchased one for a great price. It seems to work well. I have not put it on my Jeep yet but I was wondering what big differences are there between the 8200 and the 8274? It seem like the 8274 is just a newer model.

Has anyone ever had any problems with their 8200?

I dont know much about the 8200 but the 8274 has been around for many years and has proven it self to be one of the best winches you can buy

Yes I knew that. That is why I bought this one. I could not afford the used 8274 that I see advertised. Just want to know if people have had any problems with them? I got warn to send me some info on the winch.

I "believe" that it is not a Warn design, but rather a design that Warn bought off another company. A guy I wheel with runs one and it has not let him down. The brake is pretty old-style, but it works if you have new pads in there. I would probably take it apart and replace any seals and replace the fluid. Good luck.

The 8200 was the built between the 8000 bellview and the 8274. It is a very good winch, but hard to find parts for. M8274 actually stands for Warn Model 8200 lb winch, 1974 model year.

There also is a model 8074. I am running one on my CJ. It is exactly the same as an 8274, but it does not have the freespool knob, it is just power in or out. According to Warn, mine was built in 1976

And a Warn 5687. The predecessor to the 8274 with cable controls (no solenoids or power-out) and a band-style brake instead of the ratcheting unit.
