I am about to rebuild my high steer links, this time with heims, I am looking for a source for chrome moly heims, long inserts that can be rosette welded at .5" and 1" to DOM tubing. I would like to go 3/4" on the through bolt or bigger, possibly 7/8", but do not want the trouble of threading the tubing, have TIG will weld..

I have seen them on Avalance and MORE but 3/4" inserts are the biggest any other sources? I also need DOM by the foot, would like to use .250 wall if possible.

Thanks

Some of the race car drivers use a company called rod end supply. Don't know how much that will help you.

I guess since nobody else is going to chime in I will let you in on my little secret. Actually it was elfcruiser's little secret that he let me in on.

www.bakerprecision.com

They have the weld in aplicators up to 1 1/4 inch and I think that they are about 20 bucks each.

They also have a really big assortment of heims which they refer to as rod ends. They also have little boots that you can get for the to keep the clean.

Not much of a secret but baker is good. Do a regular internet search on rod ends. You'll come up with tons of companies and then find the best deals.
search for racerpartswholesalers or something like that. THey're pretty good also

For 3/4's click here (http://www.polyperformance.com/rod_ends.htm)
Threaded inserts and high misalignment spacers for the 3/4's will be available soon.

we got tired of paying the $6-$8 for the weld in inserts.
Went down to the local spring shop. Bought some triple length 3/4" u-bolt nuts for $1/ea and turned em down on the lathe.

Any machine shop in town should be able to do this for you and still be cheaper than buying those damn inserts.
