I just purchased a 1994 d-90. the previous owner had it pretty dialed. I am looking for a local mechanic in either Reno or Lake Tahoe that has experiance with these. Any suggestion would we great. I did just have the LT77 tranny just replaced with the d380 and it there may be a leak. The work was done in Portland 670 miles away so I can't really take it back to the installer.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Er, I just realized you're asking about a leak. What's leaking and how much?

It IS a Rover.

Try Samco Fabrication. http://www.samcofabrication.com/ He has done work on Defenders before and is familiar with them and is a very competent mechanic and fabricator.

Thanks all for the quick response, much appreciated.

Good point it is a Rover after all. The strange part is that it was leaking pretty good on my drive down here almost 700 miles, but appears to of almost stopped? I couldn't tell where it was coming from so I topped off the rear diff and transfer case to be safe. I didn't check the new tranny in fact I don't even know where to check the tranny for fluid? Since the drips went down the underside and hit the muffler it's hard to say where it's coming from. I am going to degrease it tonight and see if I can't figure out where it's coming from.

Next I have to figure out how to get the Hella lights working. There are 4 on the rack and 3 of the Safari guard, there are 2 batteries, a 165 amp alternator, a bus bar, a booster, and fusable link wire. They worked on Sat when I picked up the vehicle and haven't worked since. No idea what the problem is!!

A Land Rover that spontaneously stops leaking does so only because there is no more left of the leaking fluid.
Check all fluid levels before you drive any longer.
