: Carb/Engine problems!!!

Brand new remanufactured carb, new 1.3L engine from Trail Tough, new vacuum hoses all routed where they are supposed to be, new fuel pump, new spark plugs, new wires, timing is set to 10* BTDC, new fuel filter, clean tank, new gas.

First put everything together, it ran fine but didn't idle. then it would run fine (idle, rev perfect) then die. Wouldn't start, finally got it to start give it some gas and it would die. Sounded like a fuel problem, checked the filter all good. Let it sit for about 10 minutes. Started right up wouldn't idle WTF. Started it up again and it ran like shit. Stumbling, wasn't running smooth. Checked the vacuum lines again by pinching one at a time and nothing.

Gave up on it for the day.

Next day started it ran like shit, didn't idle, let is sit for 1/2 hour started it ran fine closed hood put it in gear drove about 10 feet died and same crap all over again!

got it running a little bit better (well atleast it starts almost every time now) still feels like a fuel problem though. got to give it some gas sometimes when im starting it other times it will start right up. anyways it will idle at around 1500rpm and it still stumbles and dies sometimes. sounds like its miss firing.

1.checked EGR SYSTEM, working perfect
2.PCV and hoses all good
3.idle up system good
4.float in spec

the only thing i have found that doesnt check out is the vacuum advance (leaking diafram) that and havent torn my new carb down to clean it, which i really shouldnt have to.
the only things i can think to check now is to clean my carb jets and replace my dist. since i cant find a rebuild kit. and spray carb cleaner around my carb base and intake man. to see if i have a vacuum leak.(i dont see how i could here since i put a thin layer of RTV on both sides of all the gasket before i put everything together)

anymore ideas guys i want to give it a really good try before i spend another $800 and go propane

also check fast idle mixture screw.... could be off

check fuel pump...... then check plugs (fouling, gap,wires,etc.)

they actually sell that as a kit. i guess it couldnt be any more complicated than the stock sammy carb. im pretty sure its the distributor now, i have the fsm and have done just about every test possible. and i think my #4 plug wire might have a break in it (40 something ohms compared to the rest that vary from 3 to 10 ohms).

i would like to run the gotpropane kit but i dont think i could still smog it to drive it on the street
