Yeah, I know its been covered, but here goes again...

I found some narrow trac waggy D44s for my CJ. I've heard about cutting them down, but is that something that has to be done? Or can they just bolt right in as they are?

I know I'll have to cut/re-weld the spring mounts. But other than that, I don't see a need to narrow the axles themselves---that's the whole reason I'd be putting them in: to get rid of the narrow trac CJ axles.

Anyone done this swap or have any input?
Thanks!

the technique to fit the front is known as "outboarding." Basically you fab a front crossmember and weld/bolt brackets for the rear spring (or shackle) hanger to change the spring width from stock CJ ~27.5" distance to waggy (and many other fullsize axle) ~31.5" distance. BTF, among others, makes a bolt/weld on kit if your fab skills aren't what you'd like. Googling this site or others should yield imperial craptonnes of information.

Reweld perches in the rear, done.
