Michael,

When you built the big truck, what did you do to make the horizontal part of the t piece? It doesn't look like a stock piece. I am about to take the body off a 109 to swap the frame and the t pieces are a little crunchy (wasted really) horizontally. The vertical part can be salvaged and the channel piece that runs up the rear door part of the tub can be fixed as well. I don't want to spend $250/side on new t pieces if I don't have to.

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark,

Actually they are factory pieces for a 127. There was no angle piece that went up behind the rear doors, so it was easy to fab up the additional length that we needed for the cab stretch.

IMO some U-channel the same dimension would be sufficient to make up something from scratch for that lower piece.

There is a bit of a metal trim piece that acts like a lip for the door seal, but that would also be easy to fab up, or leave off.

Sorry for the bad news. :(

Now, how's about some pics! :flipoff2:

Thanks. I think I'll be able to manage.

I'll get some pics this weekend. After planning this last fall, I picked up an nas 110 frame in great shape, then got a benz 300d, then picked up some randome stuff for it. Then a few weeks ago a 109 in terrible shape came up for sale and I bought it. After dragging it home and checking it out, I realized that finding a decent 109 frame and just using the stock motor would probably work fine for me, so I'm headed that way right now.

I have work to do on some other vehicles this weekend, but hoping to get a good jump on getting the 109 apart. Since it's New England rust, I'm expecting much of the truck to just fall apart. It's already collapsed on one side.
