Anybody here broken their 29 spline 8.25 from their Cherokee? (If anyone here is actually still running it...:) I'm just trying to decide if I should be hunting for an 8.8 this summer or do I need to worry about it? I run tellico with only 32's and locked with a NoSlip...I will go to bigger tires later, but should that be a priority for me now to upgrade axles? Thanks yall.

You will be fine. Its actually pretty stout. However, the 8.8 is a super easy swap and you get discs to boot. I ran the old style 8.25 with a detroit and 4.56s and beat the snot out of it and it didnt puke and that was with 34s. You should be fine. Wheel it till it breaks. If you have to gear and put a locker in it pick up a 8.8. They go for around $300 on the eastcoast. Its worth it for the discs alone.:smokin:

Friend broke his on 36's.... For what you're running now you should be fine like Rob said.
Upgrade it when you go BIG or if you do happen to do somethin to it, which you shouldn't

Been running on mine for a couple of years now with no problems.
If it does let go you might want to have a plan for getting off the trail. C-clips ya know.

I have been beating mine since new and have had no problems it has 4.56s and a no-slip locker I ran 33x12.50s for about a year then ran 35s for a couple months and for the last 5-6 months I have been running 37x13 boggers.I wheeled in Moab, all around the Rubicon and seirra's,as well as northwestern Oregon and washington.I shaved the bottom of my axle as well and so far it hasnt broke either.
