Well , boy #2 is due in August and I have strict instruction to get one of the 40s family ready by then. Finally have orders to work on the old girl.:D One of my aims is to replace the stock rear jump seats, long style, with a bench across the back. Along with this will be a full cage and shoulder belts for 4. So I'm in need of ideas. What have ya'll done that has been good and bad? Any pics and how to would be greatly appreciated. I have to take full advantage of this limited time offer!
Nolen, do you have some pics of your new back seat?
thanks

Fold and tumble TJ rear seat. Mine is a '97 model.
A lot of Heep guys take them out and put Jeep Boxes back there.
Make sure you get the floor brackets.
It is completely self explainatory...no problemo!

Here are some pics of my wife's '82 FJ40. This is a confer seat, CCoT shoulder belts, and some mods to the stock roll bar. I just copied the front mounting bracket for the retractor that is on the roll bar and fabbed one for the back. Then I put a mounting tab on the top part of the roll bar. You could do the same on a family cage. I got the confer in trade for some jump seats in bad shape.

Cruiser Ken thats looking pretty impressive there.. We make them here in Pakistan from scratch.. I know this might not help you but just for the info.. The tube is bent and welded in the shap and a peice of metal welded to fill the space between.. Then the foaming and the covering is done... I will try to get a few pics for you.. ;)

The confer works ok with car seats but the lack of higher back support and head support sucks. A friend has a back seat from a caravan that has shoulder belts and arm rests built in. It's a tight fit and you have to mount it as far rearward as possible but it works well and comfortable for even adults. Might be able snap a couple pics of that if you are interested.
I'm definitely interested in seeing that. My dad has a couple of rear voyager seats taking up space in his garage. I thought about doing it, but haven't pursued it much.
thanks

Hey i bought one off of ebay. It came out of a doge caravan. it fits great has head rests and reclines. You can also unlock it and it rolls on out with rollers. I just had to make up some brackets witch were pretty easy.If you look around on there you can pick up one pretty cheap. Just watch on how they ship it. If they dont do it right it can get ya on shipping.
What year was the caravan? What years does this include?

and I would almost consider havig a rugrat to have one of these Beard kid's seats. They look so cool because they're 1/3 the size of a fullsize Beard seat. www.redart.com

I have seen Jeep fold-n-tumble seats used in the rear of some Cruisers. I know Nolen's "Kate" just got a TJ rear seat as part of the "spa treatment" for pre-Moab modifications.
