I need a quick answer. I just replaced my radiator for an event tomorrow. While letting it warm up, my alternator froze (just my luck). Well anyway, now I need to find a replacement. What type of alternator will give me the most amps and drop right in with no mods? I need to know the year and make of the car that its from. I have a 304 with the ac compressor.
Thanks.

i bought an alternator for a 1980 Jeep Cherokee with 360 and AC for my 1984 cj-8 with AMC 360. the case was larger than my "core" and i was told it was the "hi-output" version for that year. i think it is 85amp output. it fit fine, but i haven't run it yet. hope this helps! matt

84 Corvette with 350 air and TH350. Will net a 124amp 12SI cased Alt. Might have to bend your brackets a little...
If you don't want to modify anything, take the frozen one into the the FLAPS, and tell them to give you the highest output alternator in their books that matches the design you have. You'll be able to compare the mounting/wiring hookups on the spot rather than find out they fawked it up after you get back home.
Most places stock a lot of various alternators.

Well I picked up a large case 85 amp for a 80 caddy. Thanks for the info.
