: 15 inch hummer beadlock?
fcfred 04-26-2002, 10:46 AM Ok folks
what would you say to a 15 inch hummer beadlock?
what about a 16?
what backspacing would you want?
what width?
how much would you want to pay for each wheel and runflat combo?
would you want the runflat or just the beadlock?
rubber or magnesium?
8 lug?
6 lug?
5 lug?
any other ideas?
Post your reply here and I will forward this link to the sales rep from Hutchinson, (the manufacturer of the hummer wheels) and we'll see if they will go to it!
GloNDark 04-26-2002, 10:52 AM Just the rim.
15"
6 lug or 8 lug.
:D:D:D
rotozuk 04-26-2002, 01:35 PM 15x8 or 15x10 would be great.
I'd pay about the same as a typical beedlocked rim, or a bit more.
Do not need the run flat.
(I keep running across surplus Hummer rims for $40 - 50 each.. Too bad they have so many issues before they are usuable, and the wrong size!)
welndmn 04-26-2002, 02:04 PM I do like the hummer desgin
I would say 15 and 16 inch rims
5, 6, 8 luggers
I would pay from 150-250 a wheel probally
Back spaceing needs to be normal like 2-4 inches

All of the above, plus if the 16.5's were available with 2-4" backspacing. 15x10, 15x8, 15x12, 16x8, 16x10, 16.5x10 would be a nice offering.
no need to contact hutchinsons get in touch with 66cjdean i believe he will be making them very shortly to what ever design and size you want...
fcfred 04-26-2002, 04:36 PM I already spoke with hutchinson and they were interested in the idea
what is the scoop on 66cjdean?
bigdude 04-26-2002, 04:38 PM 15"
8-10" width
8 lug, 5 lug, 6 lug
2-5" BS
same concept with the rubber beadlock ring, I'd say ~$150-200/wheel
another design but with the ability to secure the inside bead, sound good if it's available with common offsets
Good work
fcfred 04-26-2002, 04:45 PM I don't think 66cjdean was thinking of making a 15 inch rim
I understand that the cost of current beadlocks is not prohibitive and neither is the cost of hummers wheels
the object is an inner and outer beadlock with better backspacing and a rim that can run 15 or 16 inch tires.
has anyone ever seen a 2 piece 15 inch rim?
I thought they were on some very early flatfenders
how much did hutchinson say they would cost....i still think if dean makes them he will be much cheaper as his overhead isn't a frikin factory unless you gots a factory there dean with 60 employees
hahahahaahahh!
plus why would you give your money to a company when you can keep it in the family....
fcfred 04-26-2002, 05:29 PM tj7 I don't think you are reading what is being said
I'm all for dean and twisted doing their inserts to get better back spacing, my goal here is to get other size wheels made
more options for everyone and hopefully be affordable
the guy I talked to said they could make a 15 inch rim for me if I was bill gates, but if I wasn't I would need to basically prove there was a demand. So is there demand for a 15 or 16 inch rim with better backspacing and internal beadlocks?
Jayrockn7 04-26-2002, 05:47 PM inner and outer beadlocks in 15x12, 15x10, 15x8, 16x10, 16.5x10, & 20x10. with BS around 3.5" to 2.5". I love the 2-piece rim design, I'd pay $200 per wheel.
Blazerman1 04-26-2002, 05:52 PM Some 15x10 8lug with internal beadlock would be sweet.
:usa:
okay thats fine then but let me ask you a question.i'm sorry im not arguing with you or pushing local guys here but...why would you want a 15 " 8 lug rim what are you possibly gonna use them on a 60 0r 14b with 1/2 ton braking cause a 15 " rim wont fit over REAL 8 lug stuff without a day grinding the shit down and i personnaly would not grind fawkin caliper bolts down for a rim to fit on. 16.5 you still have all the size of tires you want and they really arent more expensive...
twistedmetal 04-26-2002, 08:27 PM Yup. Why use a 15" when all popular tires are available in 16.5 as well? The only reason you would run a 15 inch rim is because of the bead retention. I really did not get much of a kick out of grinding the dual piston Ford calipers on my 60. It kinda sucked. Lot's. We just need an affordable, readily available 16-16.5 inch rim with internal beadlocks. Done.
exactly...... twisted and me are on the same page ...we are all looking for a great performing and cheap beadlock and we all know that the humvee are the best one out there hands down
dual beads need i say more.
DEAN start working on them my man ;) i know his work will be disgustingly amazing .so if there is a waiting list of orders im the first :flipoff2: guys get behind me if you want some...if of course thats fine by you mr SLUICE JUICE.
fcfred 04-27-2002, 09:54 AM tell me where I can get a 16.5 inch goodyear mtr?
need I say more?
plus what about a 15 inch beadlock that is street legal in utah for jeep and toyota axles?
Mieser 04-27-2002, 10:58 AM I would be interested in seeing a 16.5x10 with 5" of backspacing and 8-lug. No runflat, just the beadlock, and make it out of rubber too.
I think that would be about perfect for the bigger tires....39.5s, 42s, or 44s that everyone seems to be going too. Plus they would clear 60s and 14-bolts perfect without mods and not make them too wide.
I would also consider making them out of alum with the outer rim half being sold as a replacement item. Forged not cast too.
later :jeep:
twistedmetal 04-27-2002, 04:10 PM Now you're talking! Aluminum. Forgot the about the joys of being able to lift your spare tire by yourself! I'm almost to the point of mounting my highlift in a form of a hoist:D .
And sorry, fcfred, but I think we are talking about BIG tires, here.
