: Steering fluid temperature

I'm trying to decide if I can use the tranny cooler in my radiator to add fluid capacity to my steering system. I already have a cooler and a remote reservoir (actually my only reservoir). I'm adding a ram to the system. I don't need the in-radiator cooler to actually cool, but to add fluid.

The only information I can find online suggests that normal operating temperature for a steering system in about 175 degrees. If that's the case, then I can't run it through the radiator.

Can someone confirm this temperature?

Well its basicly ATF fluid so you want to keep it as cool as you would your auto tranny. I say run it through your in rad cooler then the auxilery. You have a stock engine right? So it runs upwards of 200+ , but I don't think the actual radiator gets that hot so it should be fine after it escapes the extra cooler.

I'm guessing ski season is over because you are posting a lot more often now :flipoff2:

I dont have any numbers but Petersons did a deal on PS temps and the addatives that are supposed to help. Maybe look that up. They stated all the temps during the tests with different factors.
