Got the windsor dropped in my '79 last weekend and I'm begining to install accessories and such. The oil pressure sending unit is giving me a fit however. I'm using the larger sending unit thats used with the factroy oil pres. gauge (not the small sending unit used with the light.) It will not fit down between the block and fuel pump. Do the 351w's use a short nipple with a 45* elbow or something to achieve clearance? I got the block out of a junkyard so it didn't have any of this factory stuff on it. Any info or pics would be great.

You are exactly right.

It is about 4" long and hex shaped.

one end threads into the block and the other end is taped at a 90 degree angle to accept the factory (bell shaped) electric oil pressure sender.

Go to the junk yard, any 5.0 ho motor will have the same piece and there are a million of them there.

It's pipe thread...1/4"npt IIRC...you can use fittings from the hardware store. A better choice than the prone-to-breaking stock Al hex fittings. Plus you can add a T and use both an idiot light and gauge.
