: Late model RRC blower motors-anybody got a better replacement?
PTSchram 09-05-2006, 07:05 AM Shopgrrl's telling me her truck won't defrost, the fan is speaking in tongues and she's beginning to think it is telling her to do bodily harm to me if I don't fix the heater/defroster/air conditioning in her truck.
I researched the thread antiredneck had about replacing the motor on his '89, but it isn't the same as the later model trucks.
C'mawn, somebody has found a better replacement than the $180 DAP fan.
Help a brutha out!

Serious One 09-05-2006, 07:23 AM Buy the DAP fan, install it, make her happy. Winter's coming you know. It'll take every day between now and when she needs it to get it done.

I was hoping to come up with a good reason for why we should wait until the new shop is built:flipoff2: A little incentive to get the new building going!
cptyarderho 09-05-2006, 12:44 PM I thought AB had something for cheaper? I cannot find my catalog.
While this won't really help you now, I seem to recall somebody swapping in a standard blower motor from Autozone or something. Much cheaper than the Land Rover part. Unfortunately I can't remember any more than that.
Oh yeah, it also seems like it was a fairly straightforward swap.
Junkyddog11 09-06-2006, 04:35 AM NEW SHOP...thats sweet.
I'm not sure that you'll be able to heat it with a range rover fan though.
DiscoDino 09-06-2006, 06:49 AM If I am understanding correctly...I think we replaced the blower in the Disco with a BMW 750iL one, which was Bosche and far cheaper used than any LR part...it also worked better...
Not sure if this is what may help you...
PTSchram 09-06-2006, 08:09 AM Sadly, the posting for the replacement bolwer motor posted by antiredneck was for the earlier style heater boxes which have a very different blower motor arrangement (I also have a coupla the older ones for Shopboy's truck). The Disco setup is completely different as well (yes, as one might expect, I have a coupla these too!).
I hate AB almost as much as XKs and there replacement isn't as nice as the one offered by DAP-DAP's requires no cobbling, AB's requires significant butchering and cobbling to center the motor in the heater box.
Junkyddog11 09-07-2006, 04:27 AM The DAP solution is the best replacement for sure ( as far as easy on the effort, knuckles etc on a job that makes you want to beat your head on the floor)
pendy 09-08-2006, 12:21 AM I may have a worn motor you could experiment with if you like.

I'll have a worn motor too-tomorrow afternoon when I get it out of her truck.
I should let you help since it's partly your fault that the engine that's in there now is in there.:flipoff2: I had other plans for that engine until you had to ruin it by telling Shopgrrl there was no reason not to put it in this truck:flipoff2:
pendy 09-08-2006, 04:30 AM You mean the gasoline powered engine, not the electric blower motor, right. Guess she could have got a honda.
Just fix it whiner. Consider it payment to her for all those hand rolled cigs she makes for you. And the tobacco ones.
