I've got a '79 F250 2wd (my tow rig)-the turn signals don't work. I have brake lights and tail lights, and the hazards flash properly also. Turn signals do nothing when switched either direction. When holding the brake and turning on the turn signal, the brake light on that side goes out and does not flash. Any Suggestions?

Check your grounds for all the turn signal lights,
also change the turn signal flasher unit. it is seperate from the hazard flasher. it is a simple timed relay that may have burned or shorted out.

Is the turn signal flasher unit near the hazard flasher? I found the hazard flasher but can't seem to find the turn signal one. Do they look similar? I'll start checking all of the grounds.

Yes, they look simular. probably a 'Wagner' unit. it will in all likelyhood be round, about the size of a 35mm Film can.

Maybe up on the side of the steering colum support under the dash.

Good luck.

not sure but I think the 79 has the same turn signal setup as a 76 if so there is a little signal actuator inside the steering column. Some times these go bad (break or wear out). The prongs also can get bent up and the signals start acting up. You can buy a new one for about $5 about anywhere, or you could try putting a little ball of sauder (sp?) on each tip of the 4 prongs so there is more contact area. Sounds like that is the problem though.

Well, I finally found the turn signal flasher after about an hour of searching. It was tucked up into the driver's side kick panel in front of the door. Changed that out and now they work. Thanks for all of the help.
