I have some Questions on the installation, If anyone has done this kit can you let me know if you ran into any problems and does it really take only 4-6 hours, any info would be helpfull.

I'm in the process. The kit seems to be of quality. I'm in the re-assembly phase currently. I got side tracked as I was working on the new front axle. It's a fairly straight forward process thus far. I have a Klune sitting next to it, all of which should go in next week if I finish the axle this weekend. Let me know if I can be of further help. My set-up will be an NV3550-Klune-flipped D300 to an 8.8 rear/HP44 front.

I've been thinking about this too. I can get a free Dana 300, and since the flip kit is almost the same as a NP231 SYE, I was thinking about hte D300. Plus I'll get a twin stick with the 300, and the 4:1 kit is a lot cheaper for it as well. Also does anyone know if the flip kit will match up with the TF904 3 speed auto in a YJ? Anyone have any opinions on the NP231vs the D300?

The 300 is 4" shorter than the SYE 231, its gear driven instead of a chain and the 4.1 is 300 bucks cheaper, Im running a NV 4500, soon to be installed flipped 4.1 D300, and tera60, dont waste your money on a 231 4.1 when your chain will stretch or the alum. case will crack, Also the flip kit includes twin stick and boot, its an atlas 2 with a weaker output shaft but $1000 cheaper or you can do the HD output shaft and it would still be $400 cheaper.

I was looking into this for an automatic TF999. The guys at downeast off road said the flipkit will not work with auto's with less than 6 inches of lift. Give them a call and confirm.

Where have you been pricing SYEs? The 300 flip kit is more than double the cost of most SYEs.

However, I do agree that the 300 is the way to go.

Is the long 300 still shorter than the atlas? Is there a way to make a TJ speedo work with a short 300?

use the 231 speedo gear and put it in the D300.

And people wonder why "we" jump all over newbies' backs with the search deal.

There was an excellent writeup on flipping/rebuilding/4:1'ing a d300 posted on the board just a couple of weeks ago.

It only took me 30 seconds to find it using the search tool. You could have saved yourself and others time if you had adhered to what is laid out in the "Jeep Talk Mission Statement."
