: ProRocks - Farmington
Jaffer 04-26-2002, 08:36 PM So Lance and Kathy Cook pull into to town and immediately Lance is talk'in trash ... "Hey, ya ready to get beat by a girl?" :flipoff2:
It looks like there will be about 22 in Trophy class and 14 in the new Stock Modified class. There are only a couple of locals in either.
I suspect one of the reasons the AARC will skip ChokeCherry next year is because of this and other competitons climbing on board locally. And possably saturating the market, at least spectator wise.
It appears they ARE going to have separate courses for the two classes after all and I was told the Stock class will be a little more "technical" ... but it remains to be seen whether the course designer really does take the limiting factor of a max. 35" tire size.
Since tire size (even an added 1" to 36's) DOES make a big difference around here.
"Double Whammie" climbs ... this is where both your front and rear tires hit steep ledges at the same time on the second or later progressive tiers going up ... are common in the Rock Garden and one of the reasons this area is so popular... and challenging.
I'll try to post more reports and pics when possible and I'm sure Lance will report also ... especially if the JP/Cook/Clifford team really DOES get it!... especially against a couple of local amateur yahoos like Brad (ORC Landuse) and me ... :flipoff2:
Steve N 04-26-2002, 08:42 PM Tell that fat bastard to rag on Mello for me. Matt and I aren't making this one.

Ya, you and me aren't doing too good.:flipoff2: You're home too huh?
Brian E 04-27-2002, 03:13 PM Steve,
I am sitting at school on the other side of the state, and it is pouring rain outside. Jochum (my spotter) is down there competing in the troghy class. Don Robbins gave him his old Land Cruzer to use. I wanna find out how he is doing. He didn't get much practice with the truck, and it is a handful to drive. 39's, 60's, full hydros, and a 454 with a blower. A blast in the snow. :D We are competing at the UROC event in Cedar city in May. Then hopefully again at the UROC finals, and the Supercrawl.
Brian
landusepbb 04-27-2002, 03:48 PM I'm spotting for Jaffer, first time competition for both of us. Didn't realized how hard it is, spotting in competition is NOT like spotting just out wheeling. We did OK, if not for 2 brain farts we'd be in first, nicked a cone in the last gate after completing a sweet run, and took a wrong line on the last obstacle, live and learn. But, it is a blast! And I'm beat.
Jaffer 04-27-2002, 06:11 PM We were on the lower course and second in line ... so sorry ... not too many pics today.
Too busy looking ahead and little presence of mind any hoo ...
It was pretty cold with wind and spotty sunshine but tomorrow is supposed to get better. WE HOPE!
Lance and Kathy were on the Upper so I'm going down to the Best Western hotel and checkout the scores ...
The "Princess" WAS getting it! however... :p
... and we were even leading ahead of one of the old Currie Enterprise models for the first couple of gates ... :D
willymutt 04-27-2002, 06:54 PM Hey Brian, you recognize a couple of rigs in that first pic. One is Tracy, and the other behind that tree looks like Jason.
How is it going in Brookings? If I'm still in Vegas for the UROC event, I'l see you there. Otherwise, I'll be in Rapid. Good luck.
Erin
Brian E 04-27-2002, 07:35 PM Erin ,
I noticed Tracy. I just wanna see some results. I want to know how Jochum is doing with the FJ40. Brookings was better earlier. It has been snowing for about 4 hours straight. Just came home from the bar, and gotta start a cost analysis paper. I gotta lotta work I would like to do on the Jeep before the UROC event. I just bought a house in Rapid, so I have to take it easy for a while.
Jaffer 04-27-2002, 08:24 PM Post deleated.
See final scores on newer thread...
Brian E 04-27-2002, 08:38 PM Thanks a ton Jaffer. It looks like my spotter is winning his group in the trophy class. Pretty good for the first time competing in a strange rig. Jason and Don are gonna be pissed.
willymutt 04-27-2002, 09:14 PM Brian,
Who is spotting for Jochem? Is it his wife? Where did you buy a house? I am planning on buying one when I get back. I have a lot of plans for the Jeep also.
Erin
Brian E 04-27-2002, 10:33 PM Erin,
Jochum's brother Peter is spotting for him. I really wish I could have gone, I was gonna spot for him. I talked to him tonight. He is pretty excited. I think we are gonna do the ProRocks with him driving, me spotting in his truck, and the UROC in my truck me driving, him spotting.
We got a house right behind the hospital. Gretch is a nurse so it will work well for her. I am still without a job. Got a big yard, and a big 2 car garage.
