whats wrong with my buddys winch?
" it'll bring the cable in w/ no load ..it doesnt pull under load, and when under load it makes a clicking noise "...its a warn m-8274
thanks need to try and get his winch working for our trip to paragon at the end of the month thanks .

Make sure the free spool clutch is fully engaged.

Check the motor brushes. I ran into that problem with my 8274, it would pull in under no or low load, but under load nothing. It turned out that 1 of the 2 brushes was sticking slightly.

Are you saying that a load on the cable makes the motor stop, or can you hear the motor still spinning? Is the "clicking noise" like a ratchet, or do you just mean that it clicks when you push the IN/OUT buttons?

hey guys he posted this for me cuz i couldnt get to the computer all day, when under load the motor still goes but there is no pulling power at all, and there a clicking noise somewhat like a rachet i suppose

Could also be the drive key sheared, picture 11.
