: Tracbar is possessed on my XJ

Got a used Rusty's adjustable tracbar, in great shape it's the one that uses a TRE at the frame mount. Anyway pop my old clunky too short stocker off and put this one on...WTF? The TRE stud isn't even flush with the castle nut, this is after putting 80 ft/lbs to it on the torque wrench. It's gotta go another 1/8 before the cotter pin hole is even visible. Thought maybe I got it in just a little goofed, so I loosen up the bracket and try again, same shit. No problem, probably the wrong TRE, so I put the MoogES140R that I just bought for a spare...same shit again. What the hell is going on???

I know a guy who has the same trac bar on a newer XJ, fits just fine with the same exact TRE. Even called up Rusty's and they said the Moog # was right. Something this small is really pissing me off especially after doing my balljoints all day. Can I buy a tapered reamer and ream out the bracket hole so it does fit? Can a local shop do this, around here finding speciality tools is next to impossible. Don't know what else to do.

:flipoff: Yeah that will help, then I'll be left with a junk TRE that's wedged in tighter than your underoos dumass.

That looks like a plan to me. Thanks! I take it you bought the end of the tracbar like that? I'll have to do some digging, find a TRE I don't need that wants to sacrifice it's threads, a hoop with bushing....

I like that location of the steering stabilizer, get it the hell out of the way!

Yes The bracket can be purchased from Rusty's off road its a rip off at $189 with the track bar included. I bought it becase at the time I needed a better quality track bar and did not trust my welding as I do now. It would be cheep to make it your self.

The SS mount at the frame was reienforced, but I need to finish it and make the full bracket for it. A C-shape bracket would be a much stronger solution. Its all tempory for now.

I cut the SS mout off to do the over the knucle steering (currently incomplete)

Definitely be making my own bracket for that price, just need to convert the tie rod end into a bushing type end now, maybe a heim or johnnie joint.
