They should just barely fit:confused: If not then just take the backing plate off as well.;)
You gotta pull the backing plate with them.

The backing plate has to come off, too. But the bearings are pressed on and will need to be pressed off, too.

The bearings have to be pressed off along w/ the pressed on spacer that is behind the bearings.
Personally, I would order new bearings & spacers before I started so wehen I blue-tip the bearings, I don't have to worry.

You have to press off the bearings and retainers. Also it's pretty much impossible to remove the bearings without destroying them. Keep in mind most of the flanged axle kits used a custom bearing kit. Basically a set 9 with a thin (~1/4" thick) retainer. Otherwise the bearing retainer hits the inner seal. You can have the retainer cut down or just pull the inner axle seal and run it without one.
1. Support rear of frame
2. Support axle.
3. Loosen/remove 8 nuts holding u bolts to springs (4 per side)
4. Remove axle from under Jeep
5. Discard.

Nice reply Mo :flipoff2:
To answer the original question of how to remove, I would say with a cutting torch :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
