Well it has been way too long of a build this time around!! Plagued with the wrongs parts ( hiem joints, axle shafts, hydro fittings, steering arms) it has slown down any progress and had taken the wind out of my sails. Along with being distracted by my Flattie project:D . Well I took a day off to catch up and was able to get the axles back in, rad mounted, plumbing done and a few other odds and sods. The field fittings are GREAT!! All you need is a length of hose and you can fix anything on the trails as these are re-usable, easy to install and there is no crimping involved. I have taken a number of shots of the assembly proceedure. Lube is your friend!!! All that needs to be done now is to fix my broken t-case from last years Paragon run. Looks like I may be in good shape this year.

I had to add a split cooler with an elec.fan to control the temp. of both engine and Hydro.steering system oils. Ended usiing the larger side of the cooler for the 'HYDRO' as the oil was boiling hot with just the 2-pass side.

BTW, you system look the same and you're usiing the same fittings...smart move.

Thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on the temp. What should be a good operating temperature range? If I do put a gauge on it , I guess the easiest place would be tapped into the filter housing.

I never did a 'temp.test' however, the res. would overflow and by no means would you want to touch the housing and/or pump.

I installed the cooler kit below and flushed out the oil, REPLACED THE FILTER and refilled the system with AMSOIL synthetic bio hydro oil <--- THINK'N GREEN because there IS way to many whisle blowers now a days, and don't want to infringe on IslandZuks 'Reef Killer' statis :cool2:

Are you running a single or double ended ram? How full did you have the resevoir? Did you run a vent?

I've a DUAL ram http://www.brain-spew.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=673&d=1157916382

And have the reservior w/filter (same as yours) lower than the Saginaw pump, {can't seem to find a pic} and fill it only 1/2" from the bottom of the dip stick COLD. When its hot the level rises to the normal hot line.

anyone else know what the operating temp should be within?
