kinda depends on the gearing, really..

One buddies dad had one that was a tow rig for 170K miles, pulling a 28 foot camper.. it did just fine, but 5th gear was out of the question(2.75's)

We used it to haul mustang, on a tadem axle trailer, and it had no issues pulling 85 on the freeway though, and never left 4th gear on hills.

Those motors aren't fast, but they get the job done, kinda like a old 6.9 diesel.

Thanks bud. Im pretty sure its like a 3.53 gearing. I would figure that it should do ok.

No 3.53. Post up the axle code from the door jam sticker. Prolly have 3.55s, maybe get lucky with 3.73s. Prolly not gonna be using OD on any hills.

Also, the M5OD-R2 doesn't have a deep first or reverse, so don't be shy about using lowrange with manual hubs unlocked for spotting and parking a trailer.

it'll do just fine..but you wont have MUCH reserve power..

my 84 CREW got a 4.9 EFI put in it...(RV cam ) and it towed just fine...till you got to a BIG hill...then it was 4th gear...

2nd best GAS motor for towin...IMHO the 460 is the best gasser for tuggin a load...
