I just stumbled onto a 352 diesel engine. #344-945-10-736289 year 1982 130hp and was wondering if anybody knows if the parts a compatible with my 1974/406. This motor was mfg in Brazil and is a mercedes. Thought if the parts were interchangeable it might be worth picking up. Thanks

I think those were fitted to a lot of buses and medium trucks in SA. As long as it's a non-turbo, it should fit right in. That's pretty much the highest HP OM352 that was made. Your's was probably 110HP or less, from the factory.

You want to think interchangeable as in engine-swap, not parts swap. There is probably too much subtle diffeence in too many places to mix/match parts.

Thanks. The engine in mine is in great shape but I thought if the price was right it would be worth having around. The extrahp sounds good although mine seems to role along good except on steep grades in high gear.

You can get the same HP on your current engine. Adjust, adjust, adjust.

sounds interesting, mines a 352 w/ 125 hp and would love to tweek it but am afraid of going too far. don't want to pay the mb prices for a new engine.

I'm sure it can be done, but you might pay an expensive price if you don't ride the EGT. I *think* the factory went to a different injection pump and bigger injectors at this HP level. But, you pays your money and takes your chances ;)

Regardless, having a complete spare engine, what-ever the HP rating, is a good thing !

Thanks, thats good info. If mine is the 125 from factory, should I leave it alone or is there still room for improvement? I just read it and if I'm only able to get 130 is there enough difference to notice or am I just splitting hairs and wasting time?

Any Ideas what a complete motor/running is worth? Thanks for the help.
