I am getting ready to weld on the rear caliper brakets on my 14 bolt but wanted to know how much clearance I should have between the pads and the rotor. As it stands now I have a full 1/8 of an inch. Is that too much or what. I have been told that it should basically be zero clearence. Can anyone shed some light on this? thanks.

There are two ways to do this...On mine, I put it about a 1/16" away from the inside...the caliper will only travel backwards and will need all the travel room to do so.
Option two, hook up an air line and pressurize the caliper.

yeah there is zero clearance in a system that is working, but for setting it up you have to set it in place to allow the caliper to end up offside when the pads wear out. I would say set the piston all the way in and then leave a small clearance between that pad and the disk. yeah 1/16 sounds good, don't put it in contact when the piston is fully retracted, has to have space to expand when it heats up.
