Dana 44 with dented axle tube. Is it possible to have it repaired or does the axle need to be re-tubed? If it is repairable, how would they (axle shop) repair it? Would the gears, locker, bearings, seals need to be removed then reinstalled?

Thanks in advance.

Can't imagine the force of denting a 44 tube without bending something. If it were me I would disassemble it, have it checked and straightened (I'll bet it is off by 1/4" or more), and consider replacing bearings.

How did you dent it?

X2 I could see a dented 9", but not a 44.

weld a rod to it, heat it with a torch and pull it out with a slide hammer

Are you sure it is actually dented, and not just bent? Putting a dent in a d44 axle tube seems pretty crazy.
