my dads got a 2001 F-350 with a gas burner and sterling swr. he uses it as a work truck and wants to convert it to dwr. i know that dana 70 hubs can be changed but has anyone ever changed sterlings? if so links to parts would be awsome. thanks.

you could bolt a DRW from a early truck but the wheel patterns are different. the only other thing you could do is use dually conversion spacers or get a dana 80 out of a F-350

I have 2 sterlings in the garage (84 and an 86 so early bolt pattern ford)...one SWR one DWR (I know...I pulled the DWR and a buddy pulled the SWR...)..

they look identical...the only differance "I" heard about is a possiblity the dwr's have a 3.5in wide brake pad...but the 2 I have are identical..perfectly identical...

I think from there its if you want to put the bud adapters on the front (they DO come off if you find them in a junkyard...just takes FOREVER)...or just run standard wheels on the front and duallys on the back..
