There has always been a pirate sponsored cleanup organized around now. Anything happening this year? I know last year it was put together with FOTR

They haven't had one for the past couple years and nothing is planned for this year.

But anytime you wanna go clean the trail, feel free:beer:

I think that every year we should have a non-sponsered clean up... no raffle, no bs..... just trail maintence.... how bout it??

The trail this year, has been pretty darn clean. Much improved over 2004.

Another thing to remember....Trail Patrol has had someone on the trail nearly every weekend since August, and each person picks up trash.

The last two were Jessie on Sept 4-6, and he cleaned the trail from Loon to Buck.

Woody on Sept 9th, walked from Wentworth to the Springs, he made trash piles and his vehicle friends would pick up the piles he'd make. His total haul was 1/2 bag....which by previous standards...isn't much.

If someone wants to join Trail Patrol, simply to be a trash collector and they're not interested in the trail education part (shy perhaps...we have had people tell us that), we'd be more than happy to have people just drive the trail to keep it clean.

To be honest, that happens every time I am on the trail. The pirate cleanup was always a great run combined with doing good for the trail. That along with the great times that always seemed to transpire makes me look forward to this time of year; plus the t shirts were always awesome :)

I agree with everything.... we always pack in more than we pack in:beer:

I also understand why POR isn't hosting a clean-up anymore.... its just too much liability. They still have their club runs, and still do clean-up, just not at an organized event where they might be held liable for the wrong actions of other:( Its a sad world we live in, when a club that well known can't organize an event of that caliber, cause they are afraid of being sued when someone gets hurt:mad3: :(

Fixed.

It is unfortunate that in these days of "liability" you can't even host a clenup with a raffle and such.

Thanks Brian. Well said. along with the good that comes out of a large cleanup their are those that find something to bitch about and point their finger in our direction.

That was my plan a few months back..............Let me think about it and speak to the club. I know I sure miss em but we could do a "Non Organized / Sponsered Trail cleanup.................and someone could have some shirts made:skull:

If we do do a clean up, I think it is far better to do it on foot.
Yes, we always pack out more, but only to what I can see.
On foot, I can walk off the trail and get even more trash.
One of the last clean up's, I hiked (my fat butt) from loon to spider, and filled up 6 bags of trash.

I'm in for the foot thing. I agree that you can see more trash and get out a bit further. I'm there regardless of wether there is a shirt giveaway, ( to much hassle ) lets BBQ when were done instead, each person just bring a little sumthin to eat and we can call it an informal grub session after cleanup. just an idea to keep it light and agile.
