: TSL Radial Sidewalls
JohnBuuu 04-28-2002, 12:25 PM considering these for my next tire. i kinda need a radial since its a daily driver. in any case....from those who run these tires, how does the sidewall stregnth compare to an SSR and an MT/R?
i know the bias tires are better, but it has to be streetable.

Jeepman22 04-28-2002, 08:50 PM I run the tsl radial and thoes tires kick ass. They have a fairly tough sidewall, no gashes in mine. Iv also had them aired down quite a bit and with no problems. Wish they were louder though.:D

Tydes 04-28-2002, 08:53 PM SSR i have heard have weak side walls. I have MT/Rs and they are sweet. Great all around tire. I have them on my trail rig and love them. My buddy has the SSRs on his XJ and they are loud and not to smooth on the road. But they do really good off road as do the MT/Rs.
B.A.R.K 04-28-2002, 09:45 PM i run TSL Radials, i regret bying them, they run smaller than what they say, they arent as aggresive as bias, and the difference in the way they ride is and last seems to be the same, my buddy runs bias and they are wearing the same as mine and ride the same
JohnBuuu 04-29-2002, 09:23 AM ok...
im specifically looking at the 38x15.5 size.
the tread on them seems to look different from the smaller sizes that have the center lugs connected.
i run ssrs right now...i like the tire, but im aware the sidewalls are marginal.
if anyone is running the 38x15.5, id like to know what you think of it.

Blatant 04-29-2002, 11:54 AM My indirect experience (not firsthand) with SSRs is that the sidewalls are marginal.
I have personally run MT/Rs and TSL Radials. No comparison between the two, at least from a rockcrawling perspective: The MT/R is a substantially better tire. I was barely able to scratch the sidewalls in nearly a year of trail use. The TSL Radials last less than two months before they were completely trashed.
I now run SX.

Weezer 04-29-2002, 01:10 PM Ive said it before and I will probably say it again.
A radial will never be as strong as a bias tire.
if you are going to do any reel wheeling you are not going to like ANY radial tire because the side walls suck

You run radials on your rig, don't you  :flipoff2:

You should know by now that my rig dosent run.
Yes I have radials but that dosent mean I like them or that I think any one should run them or that I think they are any good, it just means that im too broke to buy some SXs, and a new moter, and finish the 44 front and.......................:crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2:
Weezer 04-29-2002, 03:56 PM One more thing, I have always run radials because I needed tires and I could get them cheap (or didnt know better), so I have first hand knowledge that they suck hard. Dont you remember plugging one of my 33s up on the Barrett trail last year:D
JohnBuuu 04-29-2002, 04:06 PM ive decided ill pick up a set of SXs in addition to whatever radial tire i decide for daily driving duties.
im still gonna get something like the swamper radials for daily driver, casue there are some little local places around here that dont require strong sidewalls, and i dont wanna have to change tires just to jaunt down there.
anybody wanna tell me what to expect onroad?
im used to an ssr which is fairly predicatable.
