My setup:
95 YJ 4.0, no AC, York comp.
I've seen the horizontal kilby mounting setup with the serpentine clutch but I want to save money and use the v-belt clutch that came with the York. I would need an alternator combo pulley to do this but I haven’t see it done this way. I need to see specifics on the belt/tensioning system.
Anyone have any tips for me specifically for a 4.0 non-AC YJ?
I searched, thanks

Here's the way we did it before Kilby came along: http://www.jeepshots.com/tech/air.html :D
I've since switched to a serp pulley and mounted it vertically on top of the alternator.

Do you know someone with access to a lathe? You could have the middle flange on your double groove pulley, it is a double groove isn't it, turned down. It should work fine and save you a hundred bucks or so.

Or you could buy one of my stock 4.0 AC compressor motors for $50 and bolt it right in.
We did this on my friends wrangler and it pumps faster than my other friends york because it is a rotary type rather than a piston type. I am now installing one on mine. Call me at (530)271-1157.

I'm having a guy I work with do some lathe work on the clutch pulley. should I measure for the new belt or just buy the AC serp belt that is listed for my jeep? I think Brad kilbey states that the AC version belt will work. Also, I plan on canabalizing an old 4 gallon comp. that my father nolonger uses for work. Its one of those small twin hot-dog compressors. The only problem is that its only rated for 125psi and I want to do a 150 system. I think it will work fine, tanks generaly have forgiving safety factors.

If you are putting it in the stock a/c location then the stock with a/c belt should work just fine.
As to the tank, I wouldn't, but good luck with it.

Uh, Kilby sells those alternator pulleys with v groove and serpentine belt. There's nothin' to it. My belt tensioning system requires me to dismount the york to get the belt off (it's tight when it's bolted up, no need for tightening pulleys). Put a steel plate on top of the air conditioning mount and drill the holes so the york will line up with your new dual pulley. It's really not that hard to visualize.
I can't believe you couldn't find anything on that :flipoff2: :flipoff2: York setups seem to be a weekly topic.
