OK i bought this motor tranny and transfercase, hoping to use the trans and transfer case and sell the motor. We I decided to just sell it all and make a little money. Well I was in contact with this guy and told him what it came out of and the transfercase number. He was a little unsure about the t-case number, case wasn't the same # in this truck. I called the dealer and asked about the t-case and if it was the one that came with that tranny. It was the right one. Well he looks at all the parts and says ok and he buys it all. He calls me 7 hours later and says its a lighterduty t-case the what he thought, and even i thought. But it did go with that motor tranny and t-case combo. Now he wants me to buy back the t-case. I have no use for it and it would be hard to sale cause its an odd t- case. I want to help him out, but dont to buy it back. He can always sell it. What do you guys think????

He had the tcase number and then looked at the parts and bought them? Sounds like they are his.

Typically a buyer will research PRIOR to buying, if the buyer chooses to research AFTER money has changed hands it is the buyer’s problem, not the sellers.
Given the multitude of engine/transmission/tcase combinations available it is really the buyer’s responsibility to exercise due diligence to ensure what he buys is what he wants/needs when dealing with a private sale.
Depending upon how you feel about the situation you could consider taking back the entire package less a “stupid fee”, IE 10%-15% of the purchase price.

i say all or nothing, give him all his money back for the whole package, or he keeps it.
good luck

I bought it from a guy and he told me it was out of an 02, and sold it to this guy and says its an 01. I called the guy back asn ask for the year again and said 02, trying to get the vin number.

might be the same part for both years anyway, he bought it, and sounds like he is a whinner. if he had asked nicly and said he fucked up and was sorry and asked anyway you might concider a refund, then maybe:)

I agree, very simply you have two options.
1) You like the guy, he's been cool about everything, you feel guilty---
Refund all his money and sell the package to someone else.
2) The guy is a dick, he's threatening you or is just rude about this deal---
Tell him to pound sand, he checked it out. It's not like you mailed the shit to him. It's on him.
I would absolutly not let him keep the shit he likes and return just the t-case.

Unless you specifically said you would take something back with contingencies prior to selling-the deal is done-they are his-you have no obligation.
