this is my long, drawn out build. its taken me pretty much all summer to get this far, but working on a college student's budget i think i managed well. everything it tacked in place right now, it will all get welded when i have a free weekend from school. im using 4.5" rubicon express springs keeping it sprung under as well as extending the wheelbase a little bit, axles are waggy 44s front and rear, check back in about a year for the rear to be done

I love those old flatties. May I ask why you decided to stay spring under? Are you going to keep it on smaller tires?

it'll be up on 37 mtr's if everything goes right. i wanted to keep it sprung under because i like the fact that there is zero axle wrap. i had done my research and quite a few people that originally did a spring over are now going with a spring under using the springs that i have but still keeping it about the same height as a spring over. i will be working on the rear suspension either over christmas break, or next summer because i will be in school which is 300 miles from home. the rear suspension will be the same as the front but, i want to put a johnny joint where the rear shackle attaches to the frame. i saw a local guy do that and quizzed him about it and it seems to work. then later i'll be re-doing the cage, swappin in a vortec 4.3 with a 700r4 tranny and seein what happens after that. i'll also be addin some body protection because it does have a full fiberglass body on it.l

its pretty much done for the summer. over thanksgiving i will try and get it all welded up so then i can start rippin into the back. the front is stretched 4 inches, and the rear will be stretched 6 inches or so to give me a final wheelbase of 90".
