Anyone have good sources on inexpensive vehicle tiedowns for trailers? Either chain style or nylon oversized ratchet straps.

i just asked scott at rockstomper that same question. he says Sam's Club has ratchet straps for like $12 each. I haven't checked them out though.

Nothern Tool has axle straps and the 10k rated ratchet tie downs for a good price...

I have seen the ones at Sams Club - I use one of those on my trailer as well.

I bought the ones at Sam's club. The strap is rated for 10,000lbs, but I think the ratchet is only rated for somewhere around 2,500lbs.

I personally like chain tie downs better. I picked up a box full of chain (heavy duty) and 4 rachets (type used for tractors) at harbor freight for $100 or so. I know its all cheap stuff made in China but I have had no problems at all.

Alright, I'll bite.

Why that pairing? I'd rather chain up in back, then pull forward with the straps to tension the load... When I jam on the brakes, I wanna know that sucker is chained back from running up on me... and even with a 454 towing, I think I can generate more forces with the brakes than with the gas pedal.

Sources for 35+ TIRE straps for a tow dolly?

My tow dolly straps barely cover my 33 x 12.5" tires, so looking for something larger.

Thanks,

Tom :usa:

Allied 2" 10k ratchet strap. Sam's club $12.74 as of a couple hours ago. I am currently doing one in the front wrapped around the round tube crossmember and then one in the rear around the axle straight back and then ratcheting down the back corners from the stock toe points to keep the body from bouncing all over the place! I think I actually got mine for Home Depot for around $15 each.

I have considered chains, etc but the hd ratchet straps seems to work great so far! :D

Another good place to find ratchet straps and towing products is www.awdirect.com .

There are no financial interests here. Just trying to help out.

Later.
