For Immediate Release:
The River Valley Trail Riders (RVTR), an Iowa non-profit organization, in conjunction with the Iowa Off Highway Vehicle Association, the Nebraska Off Highway Vehicle Association (NOHVA), the National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC), the City of Council Bluffs, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is proud to announce the opening of the River Valley OHV Park on May 4th, 2002 after nearly 7 years in the making.
The River Valley OHV Park is located at 4300 South Omaha Bridge Rd in
Council Bluffs, Iowa. The park is open to the public and provides a placefor ATV and off-road motorcycle enthusiasts to recreate. The park hours of operation are 7:00am thru dusk until installation of the parking lot lighting, and 7:00am thru 10:00pm afterwards.
All OHV’s must have affixed an off-highway vehicle registration sticker from your home state. If your home state does not have an OHV sticker program, like Nebraska, then you will be required to obtain a sticker from the State of Iowa to ride in the park. By law, any OHV registered in the State of Iowa must have a title. The one time titling fee, if needed, is $10 and the OHV registration fee is $26 dollars for 2 years. $1 of the fee goes to the county recorders office for administration costs and $25 of the fee goes to the Iowa OHV fund, which is what helped pay for the park. The
Pottawattamie County Recorders office handles OHV registration if you reside in Nebraska or the recorders office of your county if you reside in Iowa. No one under the age of 12 may ride an ATV in the park, and those under the age of 18 must have completed an approved safety-training course. There are no age or safety-training course restrictions for those riding off-road motorcycles.
The RVTR club members will be at the park on the opening weekend checking for proper registration and sound emission levels. RVTR members will also be distributing park rules and regulations and will be available to answer any questions. The RVTR club asks that all riders stop at the guard office to talk with a club member before unloading. A guard will be on duty during park hours Saturday and Sunday and long holiday weekends. For more information about the park check the RVTR web site at www.rivervalleytrailriders.com or email rivervalley@cox.net.
