I was on the trail this weekend when lost all gears forward and reverse. I was on a down hill section when it acted like it jumped out of gear. I shifted the transfercase in and out of fourwheel low and high and it still didn't move. When I shifted into gear it sounded like the shaft was turning and the sound of the engine changed but still no movment. while being towed out I could hear somthing rattling around but couldn't figure where it was coming from. It acts like the transfercase is in nuetral. Has anybody had any similar problems that might shed some light into what I should be looking for. It is a Th350/Dana 18 setup.

Sounds like the drive gear fell off in the transfer case. Pull the cover on the back of the 18 and see if the gear is still on the main shaft.

I pulled the cover off at lunch and that was it. The nut and washer were in the bottom of the pan and no damage occured. Should have it back together after work.

Be sure and use a NEW nut or you will have the problem again.
