: 38.5-11x16.5 boggers on 6.75-wide rim?

I know that Interco recommends a 8.25 wheel for that tire, but I've got the narrower ones. Anyone seen this done? Seems like it'd be OK, but am I missing something?

If you can run 12.5's on a 8" rim then I dont see why you couldnt run 11's on a 6.75" rim.

if you can get them on then go for it. Then in the future if you want to go to beadlocks you can use rockstomper or similar weld on type and widen out the rims to 8.5" or so.

FYI - I ran my 35x16 boggers on 9.75" wide rims for a couple of years and LOVED it. Those puppies were stuck on there pretty good too ;)

Soon I will be running 42x15 TSL's on 8" wide beadlocked rims... so we shall see how it goes :p

im running 39.5x18 on a 10 inch wide beadlock rim. the sidewall bulge is awsome for keeping your rims away from the rocks.

Thanks for the response, guys. It seems fine conceptually - just wanted to see if there were any known issues on this combination. I'm planning to put Rockstomper's locks on those wheels, but can't afford those AND tires right now - and you sure can't drive on the bare locks. I'll weld in a Scoutaholic-style saftey bead both sides, since the inner bead should have that even with the locks (and it's really cheap ;) ). Only negative I can see is that the tread won't sit *quite* as flat - but that's very minor.

Dosn't this make your sidewall more vulnerable to damage?

yes, you're right.
i ran my 44"s on 12" rims and now changed it to 10" which
is much better.

the bulge protects your rims and your beadlocks.

the wheel becomes taller which is also an advantage(if you don't want to be that tall, just air down).

and no, the bulge does not make the tire more vulnerable.

in short, i think that not only that it's o.k. it's actually
better to go with the 6.75" rims.

I've have had my 38.5's boggers on 15 X7 rims for about a year and there has been no problems. As long as you don't run the tires at 30+ psi the tire sits flat when the truck rolls on them. Mine have do not have any funny where on them. But my truck is lite 2,800lbs . I've had 4 sets of boggers (44,40,38,35) Just keep switching them front to back like every 1000 miles. If they start to where funny there is no stoping it.:crybaby2:

I run 44 inch boggers on stock 7 inchish rims right now (cash issues) they work fine just have to air em down more to get a flat contact path.

ive never seen a bogger with a vulnerable sidewall. the sidewalls are thicker than most radial tires tread.
