I have a 89 F-150 and the I6 has been giving me a hard time these past 2 months.
I have an oil leak somewere. There is oil covering the transmission, and out of the bell housing, I thinking rear seal on the motor. Any input? How hard are they to change?

Well, I figure if I am going to the trouble to clean it, I might as well replace it. I'll have to drop the whole driveline to look at it.

There is oil covering the transmission, and out of the bell housing, I thinking rear seal on the motor. Any input? How hard are they to change? is it leaveing spots?or pumping out as fast as you pour it in? my s.w.a.g. if its not pouring out is.your pcv system is not working at all. the screen in the intake is clogged. causeing the blowby find a way out.most of the time its the rocker arm covers, followed by the rear of the intake.have had this same problem on every ford ive owened or worked on after 100,000 miles. just my 2 cents.

Well, I had the PCV vavel stick and it was just open and it was dumping oil into cylinder 5, and would kill it. And I got a new PCV vavle and now the motor runs, but leaks oil every were. And I guess it did start about when I fixed the PCV vavle.
But it take the pressure from the vavle cover to in the intake manifold, so were is it messed up? Any help would be awesome.
It's not just coming out though, as soon as I put it in, but it's a pretty good leak, and leaves spots.

ok starting to sound like the rear oil drain holes in the head. sounds like they are plugged.this lets lots of oil sit in the rocker arm cover.causeing the num.5 cyl problem.i would pull the rocker arm cover. take something (i use the dipstick.) and run it down the oil return holes in the head to clean them out.your new pcv valve isnt working. the check ball keeps the new one from sucking the oil up.

Cyclinder 5 isn't the problem anymore, it runs fine. It's the oil leak. Which I know I need to clean the motor and see really were it's coming from. I think it might be the timing cover, ever since I took it off, I can't get it to seal back up right.
