Now I am a glorified newbie when it comes to IH. the one i am gonna buy i think the guy said had a slant engine in it can anyone help?? I thought they were just in dodges???

In a way you could refer to the IH 4-bangers as a slant, AMC 6's were also options as CF said.

So how bout you help us out a little with a little more detail :rolleyes:

the 4-bangers are a "slant".... what they are is 1/2 of a v-8 (quite litteraly). The "V-8" is instuled normaly... but there is only one head so it lookes slanded.


is this an early model or a late model?!?!

Bwahahhahha! When you said 1/2 a V-8 all I could picture was this 4 foot thick Buzzard beard having, toothless hill billy guy that was out wheelin' one day at a local mud pit.

He had an old cj-5 five w/ a slant 4 in it and it sounded different (before we saw it) so we asked what he had in it.

Well this guy climbs out of his jeep and so does his similar looking friend....the guy walks up to me (about 4 inches from my face) and he says in such a low freakishly scary tone (a little southern hill billy drawl to the tone as well) haaaalf a veee- aaaaightttttt. he never explained himself and we couldn't understand what he meant so I looked through the fender well and sure enough it was a v-8 w/ the left bank chopped off....I thought he did it himself until a couple years later when I learned more about motors. (I was 17)

I still get nightmares about this guy! Damn it was scary to read that :D
