Tranny Fried, replacement options? [Archive]

It's in a '93 K1500, auto w/OD, electronic (180K miles). I'm guessing it's the 4L60E. I could have it rebuilt which would be OK because the engine was rebuilt 20K ago. Just looking for other options before blowing over $1000 on a rebuild.

What are some other options? What other trannies could get put in there? What's involved with converting to 5 spd maunal? THANKS!
