I know for a jeep, soa is a no brainer. But for a fj40, is there any drawbacks? Or just do it?

Try a search in this forum. I think that exact question has been addressed here many times.

Mustard's right...hit my site for the tech part of the project, and also a recent thread on my forum. It's been discussed here and elsewhere ad naseum and while the SOA is not for everyone, it is a very nice swap and IMO well worth it.

I would go with the Spring Over if you are planning to run a set of anti torque rods in the rear, the land cruiser pinions break pretty easy if you have a heavy foot, lockers, etc...

Also the stock springs tweak really bad if you have no torque rods.

I just traded off one of my cruisers (the tub & frame only) and I am going to pick up another one... this fall. I will not hesitate to spring it over just like my other ones.

With 36" tires and stock springs, axles, and 5" long shackles I had several FEET of wheel travel, never lifted a tire on the trail.

I prefer SOA. But I have seen some SUA rigs that performed just as well. :skull:

Shaun didn't read the stickies titled "newbies check in here" and "before asking any tech questions" huh?
