Has anyone used either of the tube notchers sold by HF? Opinions? They look kinda junky in the picture.

I've got one. I was surprised to see it looks just like the JD2 piece. Of course the JD2 has roller bearings and an accurate angle scale... don't know yet how accurate the markings are on the HF one.

What'd you pay? They have a $40 and $60 one. Have you used it?

I have one. Works OK on smaller tube, under 1.5", but I have trouble keeping the clamp tight on 2" stuff. Unless you are doing a lot of fab work, it serves its purpose.

Once in a while they go on sale. I got mine for $25. It works OK. Especially for the price.

I have the $60 HF unit it has the bushings in it and has worked fine on my project so far.

Here is the difference in them. The bushing units SUCK if you try to use em in a drill press as the bushings and head unit on drill press can't ever seem to stay in alignment, my chuck (damn taper press on junk ) would keep popping off.

BUT if you use a 1/2 drill like I now do its the bomb. Plus i can move it around and even notch in place (dont ask)

It's not the best thing out there but ive seem people spend more for less...
