Please help I cannot make a decision on a tranny for my 84 k10. It origionally had an A830 four speed overdrive. I heard these were junk any thoughts? Bellhousing is cracked and has a stripped hole, could TIG it but will it hold up behind a built 406 sbc (10:1, comp280, balanced, approx 375hp)? How about a 700r? Short on cash I have a NV3500/NP241 will my NP208 bolt up? Will the NV3500 hold up? I probably will swap out the comp 280 cam for a more torquey grind. I will drive daily so an OD would be nice. Has a plow and I tow regularly (7000lb.) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you would be alright with a 700. lots of aftermarket stuff for them and guys have built them to take some serious power.
