Well all since I did a search and couldn't find any reputable information about putting chevy knuckles on a scout 44 I will ask all of you again. What spindles and rotors do I need to use with the 1978 1/2 ton chevy knuckles I have to keep the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern, can I use the original Dana 30 brakes? with the Dana 30 6 bolt spindles or what,I haven't looked at the spindle to chevy knuckle fit, I think that they won't and I would like to get alittle bigger bearings, rather than use the smaller dana 30 wheel bearings . Let me know what you all have in mind or if you have ever done this same setup before, and yes I have clocked the inner knuckles for 8 degrees of caster already.

Your Dana 30 spindles will bolt to the Chevy 44. It's the only way to retain your Dana 30 outers. If you don't care about keeping the Dana 30 brakes you need pre-78 Chevy or Wagoneer spindles, calipers, and caliper mounting plates along with '76-86 Ford wheelbearing hubs and rotors.

Can I even use the 78 chevy knuckles from the corprate 10 bolt they look the same as the scout knuckles and the d30 knuckles ball joint wise I don't really know I haven't matched them up cause the chevy knuckles are still in the truck.

The 10 bolt knuckles, but the passenger side is not flat top for hi-steer.

I made my own high steer arm to fit the scout knuckles. Drill and tap the to of the knuckle right next to the ball joint...got some 1x2 tooled steel milled it at one end to fit up on to the knuckle. Drill a hole at the front and one at the back to bolt it the the knuckle then drill and tap a hole in the tooled steel for hiem's. this runs the steering even with the top of the diff and i have no interferance any where plus you can drill and tap the hole where ever you want so you get better turning radius.

I spent all day looking for the correct GM or Wagoneer spindles/calipers/caliper brackets. Finding the brakes/axle shafts was easy but finding the "small" spindles was impossible. (I already have a set of GM flat-top knuckles)

Finally, at some out of the way yard that someone recommended, I found an International Traveller. Basically an old IH pickup truck. It had the D44 front with the flat-top knuckles and the 8-bolt spindles!!! So I bought these knuckles instead. They'll allow me to keep all my Scout D44 parts, I just have to put in the flat-top knuckles and some new ball joints.

So try looking for some old Internationals. You may get lucky.

I went and looked at the truck that I just got out in the back 40 and It does have the flat top knuckles and it does have a dana 44 in it so my problems are solved thanks for the help though.

Why the fawk don't you heep boys go search the Binder section. Yes you can swap the Scout II outers onto a Chebbie knuckle, you just need to redrill the 8 bolt spindle pattern

Hey kmgmacgood, were the knuckles you found both flat top or just one of them? Niether of them have to be machined?

the knuckles I have are both flat tops and the passanger side needs to have a light skim cut on the top and the bolt hole pattern needs to be put in.so yes it still needs to have a little bit of machine work done.

the truck I just got was a 77 1/2 ton chevy not a 78 like the previous owner told me, that would explain why the passanger side has the flat top knuckle, If any one wants parts from this truck let me know there FREE If you want parts. just email me. I'll give the stuff away on account that I got the truck free.

Was it 4X4, and does it have a decent TH350? If do, what would you want for the hassel of shipping it? I just swapped in a 350 in place of a 700, but so far it has been in and out twice because of minor problems and I just want to put a decent trans in there and be done with it. Let me know here or e-mail me at zachv@comcast.net. Thanks.

Zachv It does have a Turbo 350 trans and it is from a 4x4 give me fifty bucks for the time it takes me to crate the damn thing and you will also have to pay the cost of shipping I'll have no problem taking it down to the shipping station let me know what you want to do. The tranny is in good working order and it should work just fine for you, do you want the torque converter to?
