I tried some rattle can bed liner stuff from walmart by plasti-kote but after testing it i dont realy like the texture and it seems kinda cheap and crapy, so i think ill get more high dollar stuff or have line-X do it. Anyone know how much Line-x would charge?
How do I get that Tar crap off the floor that they put in at the factory? My 92 has a harder stuff that i could probably spray over, but the 88' has softher stuff that when i test sprayed on it it bubbled the paint and started to liquify the tar stuff.
What will take the glue that used to hold the carpet and padding on on the front floor boards.
What should I do about all the drain plugs? thought about covering them with a coulpe layers of good muffler tape. I don't really need that many cept for maybe the two on the front floor boards, and its just more places for rust to set in. But the line-x is thick so i dont think the plugs will fit back in the holes, is there another plug i can buy for the holes that i want to keep?
And theres a bunch of semi-clear plastic things about 1/4 inch high all over stuck through holes, i tried tearing one out but theyre tough. I think they may have been put there to hold up carpet a bit to allow it to breathe.

Wow Line-X quoted me $1200 minimum for just the inside floor and a little of the inside walls. I just laughed! They said theres alot of prep work they have to do for an interior. And i even suggested I do all the prep work myself and they just spray it, but they won't let me they have to guarantee the work so they have to do it all. I even asked them to do it without a guarantee if i do the work but they wouldn't.

Herculiner and some $6 HF spray guns - one gallon can do a 6ft truck bed with good coverage.

I just paid $120 for 1 gallon of Durabak bedliner and it covered my whole inside. Prep work is just sand the inside down or use a wire wheel, to get rid of that liner that is in the foot wells use a heat gun and putty knife, comes out really easy, wash it, wipe it down with xylene and roll it on. . Just that easy. It rolls on with a supplied roller and buy a cheap set of paint brushes to hit the corners and edges. The cool thing about durabak is it comes in a variety of colors. I did mine in dark gray. You order it online and delivery takes about 1 week. So order it, start your prep and when it arrives you are ready to paint! The best thing is there is no mixing...it is all in the can! You stir it and paint.

As far as all the drain plugs, put tape around the edges of the drain plugs and pull the tape off after the second coat and the drain plugs will fit. The little white buttons on the floor can be drilled out with a 1/8" drill bit and replaced with a rivet. Any drain plugs you don't need, just rivet a piece of sheet metal over the drain plugs, rough up the sheet metal with wire wheel and they are gone once the bedliner is in.

Do you have any pictures of the dark grey?

Do you think you could use a high quality primer on the tub to help cover up a lot of the tar and roll over it and have it stick?

I am prepping my rig for it. I am going to use the herculiner kit. mainly because Autozone has it in stock and dont have to order it. And I want black.

The hard tar type stuff on the floor isnt that difficult to remove, just time consuming. I used a thin chisel and a hammer, and just chipped it all out. I did the same with the little clearish-white plugs. I have been told that you can just put a small piece of tape over any small holes, and just go over them with the liner, and once it hardens, it will not peal away. I will check into it more.
My question is can I use Clear RTV silicone to fill in cracks. Like a 1/4 to 1/2 inch cracks. I know I can fill them in, but will the herculiner bond to the silicone?
I plan on doing mine in the next week or two. I have a little more welding and grinding to do. Once I am done, I will post up some pics.
