: Who will win the Top Truck Challenge?
mudtruck44 04-30-2002, 07:22 AM I could only include 6 of the 10 trucks in the poll, all of the POR guys. Who do you think will come out on top this year? The trucks are incredible this year, the toughest field ever. I honestly think almost any of the trucks could take it this year. That is something I would not say of previous TTC's. So who will win and why?
Wilson 04-30-2002, 07:53 AM There are some very impressive rigs and tons of $$ this year. I know Abba, so I got to vote for him and the scoot.
white knight 04-30-2002, 07:56 AM This is such a hard call.
All the rigs are awesome.
It's hard to pick off without knowing the drivers themselves. I mean , you could have the best rig and limited driving skills.
Has each driver encountered the type of terrain the TTC is offering?
Also, driver error could really cut someone back, Just a bad call on something - breakage.
Who wants it the most ? That's another factor.
I am going to go with Wolf . I know the driver and have seen what the truck can do.I think he can pull it off. I also think very highly of his co-pilot.
I think the frog will rock and really wants it . He will definately be up there
I really like fat city bronco's rig but don't know much more than has been posted about it or him.
The toy looks good and so does ryeguy .
This comp is going to be very very close
ol John Henry 04-30-2002, 07:57 AM I have to vote for the Scout:D
Pdaddy 04-30-2002, 08:01 AM dude there is no way I could pick a favorite, so many great capable rigs, this year ought to be the best yet, I do have 3 favorites, but I couldnt even bring myself to pick just one!!
I like in no particular order
frog
wolfs landcruise
fat city
I kinda hope the frog wins because he seems like a cool cat, and he is goin to extreme measures just to be there.
fat city what can you say, engineering, beautifully built, function
wolf, just plan sick, I know the dude will thrash it to win, and its a sweet ass ride.
damn I like all of the trucks in one way or another!!
wild1 04-30-2002, 08:05 AM Wolf!!! Tim and Marc are gonna take it. It wont be easy.
aaronlosey 04-30-2002, 08:53 AM 1 i say frog takes first, just because anybody who is willing to spend more in shipping than my rig is worth is obviously compete HARD. as long as his rig holds together and doesn't get screwed in the show and shine, i think he will take it. ( looks like hes built it enough time to hopefully get it right )
2 fat city, its gonna clean up in nearly every department, and as long as those portal axles hold together, it has a chance at first.
3 the wolf, because he seems to have a very well built, thought out suspension, big v8, and thats what this comp leans towards. ( also, this rig is very proven, its been around awhile )
4 the raptor next, because i don't think tube buggies can win top truck because of all the other bs ( but i still think the frog will win )
5 doesn't really matter down here
offroadr35 04-30-2002, 09:05 AM i do not think frog can win simply because i can't see it getting better than last place in the show and shine. also i don't think it is in the magazine's best interest to let such an exotic vehicle win. They usually try to pick things that people can relate to and get ideas from...the average reader will have no clue what they're looking at with that thing. That said, it looks like it should perform very well in the actual performance events. My vote goes to Fat City mainly just because i think it is the sweetest truck in the competition.
-Steve
mudtruck44 04-30-2002, 10:22 AM Yeah, I know Daniel. I'll try my best.
Also, I was not doing this poll because I thought people would vote for my truck. I don't think that I would vote for me either. I would vote for the Cruiser. I think that it is a well trail tested vehicle. If Ryeguy gets some Swampers he may be the dark-horse.
bigdude 04-30-2002, 10:26 AM Somebody from PBB :flipoff2:
I think the wolf will probably take it. His truck looks most suited to the TTC type of wheeling.
Second I would not be surprised to see the fat city bronc do really well especially in the mud events. portal axles should let him scoot through with much less drag.f
Frog looks big and heavy, but might do well also.

*grin* I'm working hard to get the Blazer down to his weight!
--Rob (can still do burn-outs on pavement by wiggling the stupid pedal)
Curtis 04-30-2002, 11:01 AM Well, Abba of course. Duh :D :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:
That Mick 04-30-2002, 11:07 AM My take:
Fat City will be all over the engineering portion, and Ryeguy is the probable winner of the non-4x4 events (S&S,ect)
The Frog will suck at the non 4x4 events, and it's pretty hard to get 6000 lbs to float over mud. OTOH, a lot of loud pedal can cure what ails you :flipoff2: I think the drivetrain is stout enougth to stand up to a BU NCH of loud pedal.
My final pick: Abba. The Scout is going to come up behind all of ya'll and whoop up. it's the best comprimise.
FULLSIZE 04-30-2002, 11:18 AM i want the video of this one.................
dumplin 04-30-2002, 11:45 AM Good luck too all who compete, he who conquers tank trap ain't skeered of damage ! My cousin whooped ass in the frame twister
and tank trap last year . Oh yeah , he set low time records in both but fared well overall in 4th . My pick is the killer Cruiser in 1st . FatCity in 2nd. with the Frog coming in at 3rd. You guys have a blast and represent POR with some style !!!!!!! :flipoff2:
Sorry I didn't mention what vehicle my cousin competed with last year , it was the s-10 hybrid from Tn. Jus a bunch of ol ' rednecks from the hills with a gallon o ' moonshine ..:flipoff2:
mudtruck44 04-30-2002, 11:50 AM I thought the S-10 Hybrid was cool. If he wouldn't have gotten last in the mud pit he might have won.
i just thought of something, how wide is the mud pit at hollister? isnt the frog like 108" WIDE or something:confused: will it fit?
mudtruck44 04-30-2002, 11:58 AM The pit is plenty wide. Like 1.75 Frogs wide.:D
On other note. I think the mudtrk will kick butt in the muddy portion, duhhh, but have trouble in the rocks, and obstacle course.
scoutver5.7 04-30-2002, 12:37 PM Well, Abba is my sentimental favorite(duh, look at my name), but if'n he ain't afeared to hammer it, he'll prolly do well. In fact he'll prolly surprise a bunch of ya.
I really doubt the Frog will win. He'll do like fifth. The top four will be real close and I think it'll come down to who hits tank trap the hardest.
BEST FIELD YET, BY FAR!!

Kurtastrophe 04-30-2002, 01:25 PM My sentimenal vote is for the Fat City Bronco.
At least it somewhat "looks" like an Early Bronco:D
Good luck to all PBB members tho.

He's not afraid and don't forget the "go" juice!! In fact he's planning on the drivers side of the scout being gone when he's done with the tank trap. Get it:D

i'll second that:beer:
i hope i'm rated really low by this poll, so there are no expectations.
God knows i'm nervous and tensed as it is:nuke: :(
i hope my right foot will not be trembling on the pedal when
the time comes and when it all comes down to avoiding mistakes.
this takes character, but what can i do, i'm just an old bald
a$$hole with no true character and mental strength. a frog, you know, what can you expect of one.
oh, i'm so miserable.... and to think that i have to cross half the world for this....oh, $hit i'm soooooooo down. somebody please wipe my tears away. please, please help me!!
o.k. folks, now that i got it all off my chest, i truly believe that the objective and deserved rating for me, considering all the good competition this year, is about 5th or 6th.
i wo'nt tell you though how i voted:D :D
elf_cruiser 04-30-2002, 02:50 PM Wolf359 will take it, why?
'cause its a cruiser, duh!!
i think the FatCity bronc will DEFINITELY win best engineering, but he won't do well in the mud bog, or the tow test. Wolf will do well in all the areas, he may only win one or two events, but he will place top 3 in every event, and that will put him on top at the end...
As for the Frog, i think he's just gonna break some stuff...

Exactly. He's planning on it being as ugly as mine when all is said and done. Well, maybe not that ugly :D :D :D
WOLF359 04-30-2002, 03:22 PM sheesh... this is like picking the lotto, but with slightly better odds.
I'm hoping to finish somewhere in the top 10 :D :D :D
BJ On Roids 04-30-2002, 03:23 PM GOT WOLF?
GET IT :D
BillaVista 04-30-2002, 05:03 PM Sentimenatal favourite - Frog....what a cool guy, what a cool rig, what a cool attitude, and talk about commitment
Hope for...Rye Guy and Wolf...go Canadians (don't forget to take your pet beavers ;) )
Also want JR and the FCB to win...... tech up the wazoo in a supercool pkg.
High5 04-30-2002, 05:37 PM i'm gonna have to vote for the frog. i like both the frog and the jr's bronco but with the events (off-road that is) the ttc has i think the frog is gonna kick arse. the tank trap hase the frog written all over it, same as the mud pit, the frame twister, etc. it'll be close so we will see. :D
MR4WD 04-30-2002, 06:52 PM I know one of the team members on the wolf 359 truck. He's a nut. The other guy I heard is worse. If the 502 and suspension and rock solid drivetrain won't do it, I know brute force and ignorance will.
Where can I view the fat city bronco on the web?
THE FROG .....
WHO ELSE?:flipoff2:
xextr3m3 04-30-2002, 09:08 PM did the lavender bros. get in?
stover 04-30-2002, 09:09 PM It is truly impossable to anticipate who will actually win the whole thing. It's political, It's luck, It's Driving Skill, It's Spotter skill, And It's the Rigs themselfs. I hope one of the PBB guys wins because the Pirates will throw a killer 4th of july Victory Party in his honor at Buck Island. Not to mention Rubicon Springs for Jamboree this summer.

I really really hope the video this year isn't as gay as last years.
This year really got me interested with all these cool ass rigs.
My pick would probably be the Wolf...that rig is built to be beat! :)
But good luck to all PBB members, as long as one of yall wins, I'm happy :)....Get It!
Boss
mudtruck44 05-01-2002, 07:16 AM Wahoo, two people have voted for me! Even I didn't vote for me. I wonder if it was an accident?

I don't think that there is a show and shine so that won't hurt the Frog.
Also, why do you say that tube buggys can't win? The Scorpion won in 98

I have to agree. I have the past three years and while they all lack in a lot of ways this last years was shitty.
